The Standalone Modular Nosecone Bay Kit is a complete set of SMT Designs parts that can be assembled into a fully functional module for the supported devices and batteries listed (customer supplies device and battery).
The bay is designed for larger rockets 54mm and up. The common module consists of a base with an arming switch, a platform bracket, and an integral 1-4-20 insert for mounting or as an eye bolt attachment. The base can be end mounted with 1/4-20 or 6-32 hardware on a bulkhead or used with optional adapters that fit 54, 65, 75, and 98mm nosecones.
The standalone bay supports all devices such as the MissileWorks T3 & RTx, EggTimer EggFinder Mini & TX, FeatherWeight GPS and AltusMetrum products.
Mounting to the nosecone shoulder is accomplished by three 4-40 threaded inserts at 120 spacing around the perimeter of the base module (the 98mm bay uses 8-32 hardware for added strength). An end accessible arming screw is used to power the device on and off.
The bay platforms come in three lengths, so that a bay can be made as short as possible given a specific device. The bay length can be set ot Auto, Short, Medium or Long when ordering. Auto will set the length to whatever is the shortest platform for the selected device. Forcing it to Short does limit the devices that can be supported. Medium will support more devices and finally, long will support all devices. The platform length will set the battery holder types that can be supported.
What this all means is that the long platform supports everything and would allow upgrades later to any additional supported devices or batteries. The short and medium platforms don't support as many options for changing later.
