The rocketry components that you find here are a culmination of years of my experience as an electronics engineer being involved in high power rocketry. The components that I have developed are used in the design and fabrication of rockets with emphasis on deployment and tracker electronic bays. The electronic bay components allow for the re-use of bays between rockets and also to allow bays to be reconfigured as technology changes without having to rebuild completely. You will find support for 38mm BT60, 54mm, 65mm, and 75mm for all types of bays. There are also general purpose "assistants" to make building easier for wiring and marking holes for mounting.
You can get an overview of the product line on the Diagrams, How To's & Concepts page which details wiring, assembly, and concepts.
I hope that you find the products of interest and would like to incorporate them into your next rocket.
The bay battery holder secures a 9 volt battery on a traditional electronics bay sled and allows for the battery leads to be positioned in any of the four corners of the holder.
The 2 post feedthru supplies an insulated part so wiring can transition from inside an electronics bay to the outside for connection to igniters, electric matches, or other electronics.
The 4 post feedthru supplies an insulated connection from the internal electronics bay to the outside for igniters, electric matches, or other electronics.
The Hybrid Bay Device carriers are used to mount smaller electronic devices (RRC2+ sized) in SMT Designs hybrid bays and bay adapters. Of note, the device carriers can be used as small footprint device mounts for more traditional bay designs or coupled with SMT Designs' bay adapters for even more versatility.
The low profile switch was designed to be part of a traditional electronic bay to arm and disarm device using an arming screw through the outside wall of a rocket.
Device platforms are used to typically mount larger electronic devices (RRC3 sized) in SMT Designs hybrid bays. Of note, they can also be used as device mounts for a more traditional bay designs.
The compact length platform size is available to support many different devices. There are optional battery holders that sit underneath the platform depending on the selected device - please contact SMT Designs.
The standard length platform size is available to support many different devices. There are optional battery holders that sit underneath the platform depending on the selected device - please contact SMT Designs.
The FeatherWeight GPS/Raven4 Nosecone Device Platform Kit contains a device platform that will accomodate both a FeatherWeight GPS tracker and Raven4 altimeter.
The bay switch kit was designed to be part of a traditional electronic bay to arm and disarm a device using an arming screw through the outside wall of a rocket.
